almost there...

hey guys,
i've been working on this painting for a while, as i keep getting distracted. I could not work on it continuously and i can start to see the unsatisfactory effects. Hopefully i'll be able to touch it up a little more before next week. So long...

well, i have been super lazy these holidays in terms of anything slightly creative. but now i have the flu so i have been forced to stay at home. Trust me there are only so many movies u can watch! I haven't painted anything because my desk is trashed haha but i have decided it is time to clean it. This is my girlfriend and i at falls festival 2007. its a bit of a fun photo, so i thought id paint her a pretty picture for her birthday, this is my sketch, guess ill get into it, mind u im off to melbs this weekend suckers!!! hahhaa

Finally finished this one for the grandparents... pretty happy with it. Some things gave me no end of grief and I had to rework them heaps. Parts of my head are fried. Anemic skin tones are a punk, but good practice I guess. Got some new stuff aside from this up on my blog too - check it out. One week till uni.... (just replaced the old image with a revised shot)

sketch book and painting!

This painting is tormenting me, only about half finished, but I think I'll be starting a new one this week with a different approach.

Composition

Hey all,

I've been assigned a task for this holiday break and its to represent a knight. I'm going to try and learn something from this 'for fun' project so I decided play with a few ideas before I move onto a lengthy colour rendering... Since I know how long it takes now (Self portraits!)

I've played with composition and colour theme so far. One was on the fly in Open Canvas playing with colours and the other was in Photoshop getting a feel for perspective and depth.

Anyway. I'd love some feedback on everything so far!

Hey guys, havent really done anything new, im in Broken Hill and all my creative juices are vanished, i probably should be doing loads of work but i have no motivation so im scanning in some sketches from my sketchbook that are both old and new ( my scanner is pretty crap aswell) and my W.I.P of my latest painting hoping to put a tiger in the bottom reaching out for(and yeah there is a blue tinge to the whole painting that showed up in the photo but i dont have photoshop here to fix it :( ) her hehe we'll see how it goes, oh yeah i got a haircut aswell hahah i have hardly any hair left lolz

Hey people,

This is the sketch for my next painting. Pretty shocking photo, so ignore the background colour. And also a few details with the feathers that were too hard to sketch in (I couldn't be bothered, and I still managed to smudge lead all over the place). Anyway, I'm pretty happy with it and I reckon it'll be a pretty fun one to paint, theres a lot of colours hidden in among the feathers. My idea is to make the three loose feathers colourful, to add some more interest and contrast to the whole thing.

Questions, comment, advice, hate mail.

Hey all, this is a picture I've done for my brothers lady friend in Queensland...She'd probably kill me if she knew I was posting her face on the net, but thats just too bad. This was quite tricky, because I was working off a photo reference about one and a half centimeters square which was blurry too, and kept dimming cos it was on my phone. About every six freakin seconds. SO. Now that I see it after it's been scanned, I think there's a few things to do before I post it up - the hair line's a bit static and the right eye's a bit weird. Hit me with what you guys think anyhow... Also, check out stuartaustin.blogspot.com if you've a moment cos I'm putting other stuff up there, finally.
